Both, but weights come first. You can’t spot-reduce belly fat with crunches or cardio. You lose it by eating in a calorie deficit. Lifting keeps your muscle while you diet, so the weight you lose is fat. Cardio burns extra calories and helps your heart.
Why Weights First?
If you diet with only cardio, you lose muscle along with the fat. You end up smaller but soft, and your metabolism slows down. Lifting tells your body to keep the muscle.
What Kind of Cardio?
Walking is underrated. A daily walk adds up, it’s easy on your joints, and it won’t wreck your recovery from lifting. Add harder cardio if you enjoy it, not because you feel like you have to.
Can Crunches Get Rid of Belly Fat?
No. Ab work builds the muscle underneath, but it doesn’t burn the fat on top. The fat comes off your whole body when you eat in a deficit, and the belly is usually the last place it leaves.
What I’d tell you: Your nutrition decides whether you lose the belly. Lifting decides what’s left when you do.
